Across cultures, animals have become symbols through which communities communicate shared values. The eagle has often represented vision, movement, height, and the ability to see beyond immediate surroundings.

CULTURE

The Maroon Eagle pays tribute to the traditions and community associated with North Carolina Central University. Maroon becomes more than a color when connected to generations of students, alumni, Homecomings, graduations, friendships, and achievements.  

The Eagle provides another layer of that identity—a familiar symbol connecting individual experience to a larger community.
