Identity can exist at many levels at once. A person can identify with a country, state, city, neighborhood, or even a single block. In dense urban communities, these smaller geographic identities can carry extraordinary cultural meaning.

The Brooklyn Beef draws inspiration from Brooklyn basketball culture and the black-and-white tradition associated with the Nets. Its story centers on borough identity—the confidence, competition, creativity, and unmistakable pride attached to representing Brooklyn within the larger culture of New York City.
